It compares the amount of money that remains after the cost of goods and all operating expenses are subtracted from net revenue to sales. EBIT margin is calculated as earnings before interest and taxes divided by net revenue.

EBIT and EBIT margin evaluate how well a business manages its operations. Interest and taxes are not operating expenses and don’t impact operating efficiency. EBIT margin is usually used to compare operational efficiency and profitability of companies within the same industry. Taxes can vary by location thus excluding them from the calculation gives a better basis for comparing different companies.
